Local & area support
Community Access Support across the Gold Coast
The Gold Coast includes busy coastal destinations, major shopping and health centres, established inland suburbs and fast-growing northern communities. That gives participants many different ways to build community routines, from familiar local destinations to activities, appointments and events elsewhere across the city.
Community Access Support across the Gold Coast
Northern, central, coastal and southern Gold Coast communities
A participant around Southport, Labrador, Surfers Paradise or Broadbeach may have regular activities and transport patterns that are very different from someone living around Robina, Varsity Lakes, Mudgeeraba or Nerang. Further south, Burleigh Heads, Palm Beach, Currumbin and Coolangatta can form part of social routines, appointments and everyday community life.
Northern communities such as Helensvale, Coomera, Pimpama and Ormeau can involve longer travel between destinations. Community Access Support can take practical travel time, accessibility, busy environments and the participant's confidence into account when planning activities.
Getting there is part of community participation.
Travel time, accessibility, public places, unfamiliar environments and the participant's confidence can all influence how much assistance is useful on a particular outing.
